What is the best time to go up Table Mountain?
- Cableway booking. As the Cableway is weather-dependent, you cannot book a specific time to travel on it.
- Best time to visit. Cape Town’s long, dry summer months between November and February provide the best conditions for visiting, and the Cableway operates later into the evening during this time.

Is Table Mountain Open?
Table Mountain National Park is open and ready to welcome you back for hiking activities – with some restrictions. Table Mountain is open for hiking in level 3 of the national lockdown. As per alert level 3 lockdown regulations, you are permitted to exercise between 06:00am and 18:00pm.

How long do you spend on Table Mountain?
Table Mountain hosts visitors on average for 2-3 hours for a reasonable amount of time. Most days, however, could get busy. On busy days, the cable car could take an additional 1-3 hours, making the average time spent on Table Mountain up to 6 hours.
Can you take your own food up Table Mountain?
You’re allowed to take your own food and drinks to the top of Table Mountain. Visitors are more than welcome to bring along their own food and beverages – we know the idea of a picnic at the top, with scenic views of Cape Town and the ocean down below, is simply irresistable!

Be prepared. Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate, and summer temperatures can hit the 35ºC mark around this time of year. However, at 1 085m above sea level, the temperature at the top of Table Mountain can be up to 5ºC colder than that at ground level.
