These are pictures from our rehabilitation of the Duckett Top lookout tower in Madison County in October 2009. The project was led by my friend and FFLA member Wes Greene, of Mooresville, NC. While Duckett Top has been restored with a new roof and painted cab, it it still threatened by a tall communications tower scheduled to be built directly next to the tower, destroying both its panoramic view and the serene, untouched setting of the bald mountaintop on which it sits. Following Shuckstack, the Duckett Top lookout is most special to me.
